The Association was formed in 2003 between the two towns of Carnforth and Sailly Sur la Lys with the aim of promoting educational and cultural links.
Since the formation, many new friendships have developed both locally within our own community and with our French counterparts.
Throughout the year numerous events are planned for our own members, and range from meals out, social functions, car boot sales, and of course wine and cheese evenings. The highlight of the year without doubt though is the exchange visits which take place annually, which is an experience like no other.
Our members come from all walks of life and all age groups. There is no need to worry if you do not speak French, nor do you have to have even visited France at some time, it's all part of a new experience for many.
The whole idea behind the Association is for it to be a fun and enjoyable informal experience of being a member. It is a great way to meet new people, learn about their culture, their language, and the many things we have in common.
We actively seek local residents to come along sometime, see what we are about and see if it is of interest for them. Further details and information can be found within the website and if you would like to find out more about us use the contact page to get in touch.
The vast majority of our activities are by local people and are for local people, we are proud of our own local culture and whilst strong bonds have been created with our French friends, our activities centre on our own locality.
All age groups are catered for with the range of activities and events we run during the course of the year.
